Privacy Policy
This is the personal portfolio site of Stuart Brophy at sbrophy.click. It is built to collect as little as possible. There are no tracking cookies, no advertising and no account sign-ups.
Who is responsible
Stuart Brophy, Co. Carlow, Ireland, is the data controller for this site. For any privacy question or request, email Stuartbrophy157@gmail.com.
Analytics
I use GoatCounter, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics service, to see how many people visit and which pages they read. GoatCounter:
- does not set cookies or store any other identifier on your device;
- does not store your IP address. A short-lived hash is used to count unique visits and is then discarded;
- records the page viewed, the referring site, browser and operating system type, screen size and approximate country;
- does not track you across other websites, and the data is not sold or used for advertising.
The legal basis is my legitimate interest in understanding, in aggregate, whether the site is useful (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). If you block the script, nothing is counted and the site still works fully.
Preferences saved in your browser
The site remembers three display choices in your browser's local storage: light or dark theme (sb-theme), visual or terminal mode (sb-mode) and reduced motion (sb-reduced-motion). They stay on your device, are never sent to me, and you can clear them at any time in your browser settings.
Hosting and third-party services
Your browser connects to these services to load the site. Each receives your IP address as a normal part of serving the request:
- GitHub Pages hosts the site and may keep server logs for security (GitHub privacy statement);
- Fontshare and Google Fonts serve the typefaces;
- jsDelivr and unpkg serve the animation and icon libraries;
- GoatCounter receives the anonymous page-view count described above.
If you contact me
If you email or phone me, I use your name, contact details and message only to reply. I don't add you to a mailing list or share your details, and I delete the correspondence when it is no longer needed.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data I hold about you, object to its processing, or ask me to restrict it. Email me and I will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
